Breakdown Process

Ahoy! For this project I wanted to practice more body mechanics.

I was imagining this character to be a bit smug with her skills. She could easily do a couple swipes with the sword and call it a day, but where is the fun in that? She wants to be flashy! I found reference by stumbling upon a fight choreography video on instagram and then combined it with a scene from β€œTom-Yum-Goong (2005)” where Lateef Crowder uses capoeira. The capoeira scene was mostly referenced for the transition from standing to turning around into a handstand.

The blocking just started with trying to get golden poses from the references and altering as needed. After the golden poses were done, I create the in-between poses before moving to spline.

On the polish pass I adjusted the overall body mechanics, animating all the smaller details from the accessories, adjust the free hand poses, and creating facial expressions.
